Measure the innovation capability of companies – and unlock potential

What are the strengths and weaknesses of a particular company? How can lasting improvements be made to the competitiveness of a company? And how can specific improvements be made to the innovation capability of a company? In order to provide reliable answers to questions about innovation, substantiated expert knowledge is required. The Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) has developed the Innovation Capability Indicator, which can be used to measure and analyse the innovation capability of companies.

Who benefits from the Innovation Capability Indicator?

The iit Innovation Capability Indicator for regions is aimed at decision makers within businesses. As a neutral consultant, we work with our clients to analyse the company’s innovation capability. We translate this analysis into real measures that bring targeted improvements to innovation capability.

What are the data sources for the company indicator?

For its analysis of a company’s innovation capability, the iit uses existing data about the company, combined with bespoke primary data collection that is tailored to the client’s requirements. The data is collected by conducting internal interviews. The aspects that the indicator takes into account include data concerning the workforce’s educational qualifications, data about working environments that promote learning, manufacturing data and company data about its research and development collaborations with research institutes, higher education institutions or other companies.

Why develop a new innovation indicator?

Whereas the majority of indicators generally focus on innovative performance, the iit indicator shifts the spotlight onto the ability to translate new ideas into competitive products and services. The iit Innovation Capability Indicator is an instrument that makes it possible to measure the innovative capacity of individual countries, regions, sectors and companies.
