iit-Representative Office in Silicon Valley: Cooperation Agreement with AHK Reached in San Francisco

Rene van den Hoevel, Managing Director German-American Chambers of Commerce (AHK) in San Francisco

The Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) and the German-American Chambers of Commerce in San Francisco (AHK USA – San Francisco) have reached a cooperation agreement regarding the establishment of an iit-Representative Office on the US West Coast.

The cooperation allows for direct access to Silicon Valley and enables the formation of new joint projects with representatives of industry and academia in the field of pioneering technologies such as renewable energy, Smart Grid, e-mobility and IT. “We have, for many years, brought together German decision makers and American partners to foster bilateral exchange between the two countries,” says Rene van den Hoevel, AHK San Francisco Managing Director. “Together with iit, we now want to expand and intensify this offer.”

The cooperation’s objective is the creation of permanent and durable institutional collaboration for projects and consulting activities in an international setting. Joint studies and events focusing on issues such as mobility of the future, Industry 4.0, launching high tech start-ups as well as cross-border and comparative trendscouting are planned to be substantial to the cooperation. The existing network of five iit-Representative Offices in different regions of the world offers an interesting new perspective as country specific knowledge can pointedly be activated and utilised.
