Curriculum vitae

Dr. Martina Kauffeld-Monz, after completing an education as a banker, studied economics at the University of Kassel where she focused on innovation economics, regional economics and innovation policy. Between 1999 and 2008 she conducted applied economic research at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) in its department of innovation, industry and services, primarily focussing on evaluation of innovation policy initiatives and European structural funds. While working on (regional) innovation systems and networks, she also arranged multi-method empirical investigations, including network analysis, dealing with knowledge transfer and trust building in innovation systems for her Ph.D. (receiving her doctorate in 2010 from the University of Jena; Chair of Business Dynamics, Innovation and Economic Change). In the period from 2008 to 2013, she worked as a researcher at the University of Kassel, at the Institute for Urban Research and Structural Policy (Berlin) and also taught at the University of Naples and Salerno (Italy). She joined VDI/VDE-IT in its socio-economic department in 2013.
