Dr. Thomas Kropp

"The industrial transformation toward climate-neutral production processes is a chance for Europe: By pioneering the hydrogen economy, we can strengthen our economic position in the world and make a valuable contribution to climate protection."

Focus of work

  • Funding and policy issues for the market ramp-up of the hydrogen economy
  • Technology trends and sectoral developments in the areas of mobility and process industries
  • Implementation of funding programs with a focus on research and development projects

Curriculum vitae

Dr. Thomas Kropp studied chemistry at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where he subsequently completed his doctorate on the topic of modelling chemical reactions in fuel cells. From 2017 to 2019, he was a research fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, specializing in chemical energy conversion, and from 2019 to 2020 he spent a guest stay at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin with a research focus on electrochemistry. Since 2020, Thomas Kropp has been working as a consultant at the Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit). He is deputy project manager of the funding programme “Carbon Contracts for Difference” of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK).
