Curriculum vitae

Sebastian Abel has studied political science and public policy (focus on new public management, international politics, and public enterprises) and has been working for iit as an expert since 2018. His career focuses on international policy consulting/development cooperation, promotion of sustainable energy solutions and the development of innovative business models in the energy sector. From 2010 to 2018, Mr. Abel worked for the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in the energy and climate sector in Southeast Asia, South Africa and Iran. In addition, he led a multi-year international foresight project on the sustainable shaping of the global energy transition ("Delphi Energy Future 2040"). His work at iit focuses on strategic foresight, international innovation and research cooperation as well as monitoring and evaluation. His methodological focuses include scenario instruments such as cross impact analyses and Delphi surveys, trend analyses and road mapping workshops.
