Should the processing of personal data be necessary and there is no legal basis for such processing, we will generally ask the data subject for consent.
The processing of personal data, such as the name, address, email address, or telephone number of a data subject will always be in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the country-specific data protection laws applicable to the Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) within the VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH. 4. Collection of general data and information (log files)
Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) within the VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH’s website collects a variety of general data and information every time a data subject or an automated system visits the website. These general data and information are stored on the server in log files. The following information can be collected:

- ensure the contents of our website work properly;
- optimise the contents of our website and its promotion;
- ensure the continued functioning of our information technology systems and the technology of our website as well as to
- provide law enforcement agencies with the necessary information for prosecution in the event of a cyberattack.

Insofar as the processing of data is required in order to take steps prior to entering into a contract (for example, for enquiries about our products or services) or to perform a contract, the legal basis is Art 6, par 1, point (b) GDPR.
We process personal data that you provide to us in our capacity as project manager during project management work (for example, by uploading documents to a project website) in order to assist project implementation (for example, providing advice on funding, approving the funding application, support during the term of the project). In this respect, you are only required to provide the information that is necessary as specified by the ministry responsible for the funding programme and in accordance with the applicable statutory rules for the funding application.

You also have the right to object to the processing of your personal data by Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) within the VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH (Art 21 GDPR).
Insofar as the processing of your personal data by Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) within the VDI/VDE Innovation + Technik GmbH is based on consent (Art 6, par (1), point (a) GDPR), you can withdraw the consent at any time; the legality of the data processing performed on the basis of the consent remains unaffected until the consent is revoked.
Should you wish to assert these rights or have any questions concerning personal data, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time by email at or using the contact information provided in Section 2.
Irrespective of this, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority – in particular in the EU Member State in which you reside, or work or the place of the alleged infringement – if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the GDPR or other applicable data protection laws (Art 77 GDPR, Art 19 German Data Protection Act).
8. Obligation to provide data
As part of our business relationship, our processors must provide only those personal data that are needed to establish, conduct and terminate a business relationship or that we are required to collect by law. Without these data, we will be obliged to refuse entering into a contract or executing an order or may not be able to continue executing an existing contract and may even have to terminate it.
The provision of personal data is in part required by law (e.g. tax regulations) or may arise from contractual agreements (e.g. the processor’s information).
9. No automated individual decision-making
As a responsible company we refrain from automatic decision-making or profiling (Art 22 par 1 and 4 GDPR).
If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require an e-mail address from you as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the specified e-mail address and that you agree to receive the newsletter. No further data is collected or only on a voluntary basis. We use this data exclusively for sending the requested information and do not pass it on to third parties.
The processing of the data entered in the newsletter registration form is based exclusively on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO). You can revoke your consent to the storage of the data, the e-mail address and their use for sending the newsletter at any time, for example via the “unsubscribe” link in the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.
The data you provide for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. Data that has been stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected by this.
Use of newsletter application (MailPoet)
MailPoet is a service with which, among other things, the sending of newsletters can be organised and analysed. If you enter data for the purpose of receiving newsletters (e.g. e-mail address), this data is stored on our server. This website uses the services of MailPoet for sending newsletters. The provider is Wysija SARL, 6 rue Dieudé, 13006, Marseille, France.
If you wish to register for our newsletter, this is done using the double opt-in procedure. The first part of the registration is done on our site by providing us with an email address. A confirmation email will be sent to this email address. You will only receive the newsletter after you have received and acknowledged this confirmation email from us. If you do not send this confirmation, your data (email address) will be deleted again.
With the help of MailPoet we can analyse our newsletter campaigns. When you open an email sent with MailPoet, a file contained in the email (so-called web-beacon) connects to our server. This allows us to determine whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links, if any, have been clicked on. In addition, technical information is recorded (e.g. time of retrieval, IP address, browser type and operating system). This information cannot be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient. It is used exclusively for the statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better adapt future newsletters to the interests of the recipients.
If you do not want any analysis by MailPoet, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. For this purpose, we provide a corresponding link in every newsletter message.
The data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO). You can revoke this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.
The data you provide for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from our servers as well as from the servers of MailPoet after you unsubscribe from the newsletter.
For more details, please refer to the data protection provisions of MailPoet at: https://www.mailpoet.com/privacy-notice/.

We use the podcast hosting service Podigee from the provider Podigee GmbH, Schlesische Straße 20, 10997 Berlin, Germany. The podcasts are loaded by Podigee or transmitted via Podigee. The use is based on our legitimate interests, i.e. interest in a secure and efficient provision, analysis and optimisation of our podcast offer pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f. DSGVO.
Podigee processes IP addresses and device information to enable podcast downloads/playbacks and to determine statistical data, such as call-up figures. This data is anonymised or pseudonymised before being stored in Podigee’s database, unless it is necessary for the provision of the podcasts.
