Evaluation of the Renewable Energies Export Initiative (and follow-up evaluation)

The evaluation of the export initiative on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) had the task of analyzing the export situation in the renewable energy sector, determining the effectiveness of the initiative and deriving recommendations for improvements. According to these objectives, the evaluation included two central analysis modules: In the module 'Export Analysis' the international markets and the German industry - including competitive position and export barriers - were characterized for all relevant sub-sectors of the renewable energy sector. Closely related to this was the work in the second module, which was devoted to the actual evaluation of the export initiative and its individual measures. The overall concept, strategy, mix of measures and instruments as well as the participating institutions and their cooperation were examined. The results of the evaluation were an important basis for a report informing the Bundestag about the work and development of the initiative.
