Curriculum vitae

Carolin Thiem studied sociology and technology studies in Berlin and Madrid. Since November 2017 she works as scientific consultant in the field of Social Innovations and societal questions of digitalization at the Institut for Innovation and Technology (iit). She expanded her expertise in social science as a research associate and lecturer at the Chair of Sociology of Science at the Technical University of Munich (Phd project about "TechnoCitizenship – Interrelation between technology and citizenship"). Her primary research focus lies on the participation of lay people in science processes (TechnoCitizenScience) and the role of digital technologies for participatory processes in politic and business contexts. Furthermore she gained expertise in project management for international clients in innovation and design research at HYVE AG and Service Innovation Labs GmbH. During this time, she led projects on qualitative and quantitative customer insights and user/usability research.
