Dr. Katia Tödt

“Education and science are under great pressure in the face of profound social and digital changes. To overcome these challenges, we must make targeted use of synergies, strengthen cooperation and networking, and rethink the transfer between research and practice.”

Focus of work

  • Educational research (digital education and AI in education, lifelong learning, higher education, continuing academic education)
  • Digital transformation in higher education and the education system (digitization, open education, educational platforms)
  • Organizational and quality development in education (quality management, change processes)
  • Science and research funding system in Germany (legal basis, political objectives, current challenges)

Curriculum vitae

Dr. Katia Tödt studied psychology at Freie Universität Berlin and earned her doctorate in educational sciences with a focus on quality development in continuing education from Leibniz University Hannover in 2007. She has been working at the Institute for Innovation and Technology (iit) since 2013, initially as a consultant and, since 2018, as a group leader and deputy head of the Education and Science division. Her work centers around the topic of digitization in education. Among other things, she deals with the question of how transfer between science, educational practice, and educational technology can be facilitated, how innovations in the field of education can be promoted, and how learning should be designed in the future — at the individual level as well as at the organizational and structural levels.
