Curriculum vitae

Dr. Jan Wessels studied political science from 1990 to 1994 at the FU Berlin and the IEP Paris and obtained his doctorate in Berlin in 1999. Since 2000, he has worked at VDI/VDE-IT, specialising in the evaluation of technology and innovation policy and strategic advice in this area. He directs the impact analysis of the "Founder Competition - Digital Innovations" and evaluates the electro mobility programme "ElektroPower" by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). Recent evaluations include the funding measures "Innovative Regional Growth Cores" by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and two Tunisian innovation support programmes. Since 2007, he has been one of the spokesmen for the working group "Research, Technology and Innovation Policy" of the "Gesellschaft für Evaluation" (DeGEval). From 2010 to 2013, as a consultant in the Strategy Department of the BMBF, he was responsible for the high-tech strategy.
