Initiative Technical Education for Germany (ITB)

The starting point of the project is the importance of a cross-sectoral perspective on the area of scientific and technical education, which is extremely important for Germany's innovative ability. The aim of the project is to highlight the outstanding importance of technical education for the German innovation system, to stimulate a cross-sectoral discussion in politics and society, from early childhood education to school and university education, vocational training and tertiary education, continuing education and adult education, and to help ensure that this importance is reflected in Germany's educational reality through sustainable measures. The intention of the project is to examine issues of technical education from an innovation policy perspective. It thus goes well beyond the education sector and ties in with findings from innovation research, which call for a stronger interlinking of the various education systems with developments in technologies and the new skills and qualifications that go with them.
