Study on microcredentials at university level

Microcredentials (MC) are compact and thematically focussed training courses with proven examination performance. According to the EU Council recommendation from 2022, for example, they should help to flexibly address the constantly changing and differentiating skills requirements of everyday working and living life. Universities play a dual role here: on the one hand, they can offer MC and, on the other hand, receive applications for recognition and crediting of previous experience from MC. The MODUS project of the German Rectors' Conference focussed on the second aspect and commissioned the iit with a corresponding report. The initial overview compiled through research and interviews initially served as a basis for discussions with a corresponding working group. The final study also focussed on the role of the provider and some fundamental concepts for a common understanding.
